Here in St. Josephs we use technology across all areas of learning, helping to make lessons more interactive, fun, engaging and inclusive.
We use Google Workspace for Education throughout the school. Students and Staff use tools such as Google Docs, Slides and Drive to collaborate, share ideas and stay organised. Google Classroom is used in the senior end to assign work and aid communication between teachers, students and parents.
All of our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, with 5 new interactive flat screens installed recently. These are used daily to bring subjects to life and to enhace the teaching and learning in all classrooms.
We have a shared set of iPads that are used across all classes to enhance classroom learning. Students use the ipads to access educational apps, research for project work and to connect to google Classroom.
This school has high speed broadband connectivity through the Department of Education School Broadband Programme, delivered as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
From third to sixth class, students have had dedicated IT classes to help develop the essential skills such as typing, word processing, spreadsheets and creating presentations. Thanks to Kate Ryan who has facilitated this.
