Our School St. Josephs GNS is situated in the town of Mountmellick, County Laois in Ireland. We are a Roman Catholic school and cater for primary school girls. We a currently a DEIS school. There are currently 219 girls enrolled for 2022 in our school. There are 21 members of staff in our school, we have 11 Classroom teachers , 5 SEN teachers, a HSCL co-ordinator and an administrative principal. We also have three special needs assistants.

We provide a huge variety of activities, among them, Gaelic Football, Camogie, Athletics, Cycling, swimming, harp, choir, debating and much more! The school proudly boasts nine Green Flags.

School begins at 8:45 am and finishes at 1:30 for Infants and 2:30 for the rest of the school. We have two breaks in the day at 10:30 for 15 minutes and 12:15 for half an hour. We operate a healthy lunches policy in the school and are lucky to have our lunches provided under the Schools Meal plan.

It is our aim to welcome all children to our school to receive their primary education in a caring, friendly, secure environment. Our mission statement is:
