About Us

Our School St. Josephs GNS is situated in the town of Mountmellick, County Laois in Ireland. We are a Roman Catholic school and cater for girls aged 4 to 12. There are currently 173 girls enrolled for 2013 in our school. There are 14 teachers in our school, we have 10 Classroom teachers , 3 learning support/resource teachers and an administrative principal. We also have two special needs assistants.

We provide a huge variety of activities, among them, Gaelic Football, Camogie, Athletics, Tag Rugby, Cycling, swimming, harp, choir, debating and much more! The school proudly boasts six Green Flags having achieved our sixth last year.

School begins at 9:00 am and finishes at 1:45 for Infants and 2:45 for the rest of the school. We have two breaks in the day at 10:45 for 15 minutes and 12:30 for half an hour. We operate a healthy lunches policy in the school.

It is our aim to welcome all children to our school to receive their primary education in a caring, friendly, secure environment. Our mission statement is:
